today was a good day.

First, I found an hombre selling yukis 3 blocks from my apartment. Yukis (or Raspados) are Mexican snow cones. I have not had one in years so I was very excited to start my day with un yuki de tamarindo. Now if i find a place that sells nieve de garrafa, I will be one happy chica!
Next, I saw this while walking around the neighborhood. And behind The "Free Willie" Nelson, there were 'things' on the sidewalk with a FREE sign next to them... and this beauty just lying there for me to take home. It works really good too!Yeah, I know!

So long Michael...

"So long, bad times
We're gonna shake it up and break it up
We're sharing light brighter than the sun
Hello , good times
We're here to simulate, eliminate
An' congregate, illuminate

(we are here to change the world)"

always a bridesmaid

I'm going to be a bridesmaid in my Scorpio sister Kelly's wedding this August. She was so rad to ask me to be a part of her wedding, and I'm so glad she did, otherwise I wouldn't be able to wear this fantastic dress!! I'm really excited about being in the wedding because a) it's a total dress up event, and b) there are steps to learn and not screw up or the whole thing will be ruined! No pressure, it'll be just like theatre.

Today I went to the wedding dress shoppe to have my bridesmaid's dress altered and gave the seamstress a quick demo on how to use my camera to take these pics to show you and Kelly! Yay!!
When you go to a wedding dress shoppe, you can't help but daydream about your own wedding (even though you are light years away from ever becoming honest.) By the time you leave the shoppe, the wedding dress has been chosen, and you discover that it comes in a color called "Ivory" for those of us you who can't wear white down the isle.

Happy Father's Day

Here's to my dad, Pete. Whom I wish I could be with today eating oysters by the dozen at Cameron's.

Instead, I virtually baked him this cake (which looks just like the Father's Day Card I made him in elementary school.) Skål!

Without you, Dad, I wouldn't be here......

puppy love

Today on the way to the movies, My friend Michelle and I found the cutest little Yorkie roaming the sidewalk on 10th street. He had no tags and his mommy and daddy were no where to be found. We asked everyone walking by if the pup looked familiar, took him to the pet store, and to finally to the Vet to get him scanned with no luck.

We were running late to our movie, but all I I really wanted to do was find the pup's parents and ask them how they could leave him without a collar or a chip! Alone on the streets of the East Village with all the riff raff roaming around and girls like me who get absolutely smitten by little creatures and want to take them home. We met a nice man who lived on the block who said he would watch the pup while we went to the movie and afterward I would take him home and spend Sunday searching for his parents. While we were at the theater, the man texted that he found the pup's parents and my dreams of having a playmate for my Sailor were squashed instantly. It's probably for the best. I guess....

All through the movie I was thinking of names for him. I decided upon Pilot, a comrade to my Sailor. We later found out his name was Boogie.

Ben Nichols of Lucero on the Show!

This past Saturday was the Big Apple BBQ at Madison Sq. Park. Lucero played, and I got soaked in the rain watching them. After their set, Ben Nichols was kind enough to be a guest on the show! Enjoy!

My god! Do I flirt like this ALL the time!? (don't answer that...)

Give Blood, Save Lives

Last Friday, the company I work for held a blood drive. I decided at the last minute to volunteer for no other reason but to make a show out of it. Enjoy.

superhero daydreams!

When I was a young girl, I wanted to be Wonder Woman. If you were a young girl in the 80's, you know exactly why. One time I was visiting my Granma in San Diego and we got locked out of her house. I told her in all seriousness, "wait at the front door, Granma, I'm going around back to let us in." I'm not sure how long it was until she came around back to find me, but I was startled when she yelled out, "Michelle! What in the worrrrld are you spinning around for?!!!"

We had to call the locksmith to let us in.

Nao Superfortress posted this to my facebook. I absolutely need to have it. I would totally wear it everyday.

Are those gel pens and a battery charge pack? Lekkercraft says i can switch those out for my Blackberry and Flip.

oh wait, here's the best part.....
yeah i know.

Bonjour mes amis!

Boy am i glad May is gone gone gone! Here at the show we welcome June with open arms for it is truly the official beginning to summer for us. It means more outdoor activities, wearing summer dresses and sandals, jazz in the parks, traveling, trips to the beach, and so much fun fun fun!

And now for a little list of stuff we've got planned for the summer (June at least).

1. Learn to speak French I'll be going to France in August and to prepare, I've called upon Rosetta Stone to help me converse like a parisian! I'm bringing back Solange (that was my name in French class all through high school) and we're going to rock a one year program in 2 months. oh my!

2. Figment "Figment is an explosion of creative energy" that will take over Governor's Island this June 12-14th. My hoola hooping instructor told me about it last night and it sounds absolutely amazing! (i know, I'm turning into a hippy, i'm sorry!)

3.
Francis Bacon at the MET It's been 10 years since i visited the MET, (and i've lived in NYC for 5 of them.) Shame on me! This is the exhibit that will get me back. We are VERY excited about this!

4. Shakespeare in the Park This summer, you can watch Twelfth Night in Central Park - FOR FREE! Oh, and Raul Esparza is in it. *swoon*

What have you got planned for the summer? Let us know in the comments section!

ice cream you scream.

The grey is sesame seed and the green is green tea. the grey was sandy, the green was sweet. together they constructed a nice little home of goodness in my tummy.
Sundaes & Cones is a very white ice cream shop on E. 10th Street in the East Village. Their ice cream is delicious, and they have many fun flavors like Lychee and Taro Root and regular flavors like chocolate and vanilla. Sesame and Green Tea is my favorite combination, though. I took my ice cream to Washington Square Park and sat right by a traditional jazz band and watched the kids play in the fountain. What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
