Not a bad place after all. I thought it would be gloomy and dark, covered in soot like a 19th century London town depicted in movies, but boy was i wrong. This city was beautiful! I wish i had had more time to experience it. Unfortunately i only had 2 days and they would be jam packed with wedding stuff. I mentioned earlier in posts that i was to be a bridesmaid in my friend Kelly's wedding. Well, that weekend arrived. I landed in Pittsburgh (after an 8 hour flight from France) at 2pm. I changed in the cab and made it just in time to the wedding rehearsal at
Heinz Hall in Downtown Pittsburgh where i met up with Kelly and the rest of the wedding party. We learned that Kelly and Bill's wedding was the first to ever happen at Heinz Hall in all of it's existence. Hard to believe because, if i lived in Pittsburgh, this would be exactly where i'd want my wedding. Good Job Kelly and Bill!
Dinner for the wedding party was held at the famous sandwich shop
Primanti Bros. (yep, i saw that episode too.)

I totally finished a humongous steak sandwich and washed it down with Pittsburgh's own Iron City Beer. It was absolutely delicious, and fear started to kick in that my bridesmaid's dress was not going to fit!!!

Luckily it did, and the wedding was absolutely perfect! i could not stop the tears from falling down my cheeks (as per usual at weddings.) But this being a wedding of a very close friend, i pretty nearly lost my shit. The reception was held at a barn (which we were bussed to in an old yellow school bus) near a lake and when you looked up you could actually see stars! Imagine that, they really do exist! I gave a toast, drunkenly, and danced the night away, then saw more of them stars back behind the barn......
Pittsburgh is filled with beautiful architecture and art, though i was only able to see what i could on my way to the hall from the hotel.
Shepard Fairey was having an exhibit in Pittsburgh and he put up a whole bunch of murals all over downtown Pittsburgh. Here's one I found in an alley on the way to the Wedding.

Oh, and
this guy was everywhere!

See yinz!
