Christmas Eve - A Sideshow

On Christmas Eve 2009, my friend Lynn Bixenspan agreed to go with me to mass. Lynn is Jewish, and I can't remember the last time I was in church. We attended a lovely service at St. Mark's Church in-the-Bowery.
We sang some carols, and totally lived to tell the tale. Watch our report on churchin' below...

Winter Solstice

Today marked the first day of winter, also known as the Winter Solstice for all you witches, and NYC is perfectly white with snow and perfectly freezing. As I jumped over sidewalk corner puddles and my fingers turned blue, I had this song perfectly in my head.

Enjoy.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

The Perils of Being a Writer

It's totally like charging your laptop, but not really. It takes much longer to get back to what you were doing and waaaay messier.

Holiday Tip #1

When you attend holiday parties this season, have a friend take photos of you in front of the host's Christmas tree or wreath or Nativity set up and make it your holiday card for the year!

For better results, aka pics to send to grandma, we suggest taking pics prior to sampling the egg nog...

Christmas is here & Holiday Giveaway!

I absolutely LOVE Christmas time, especially in New York City. Last night it snowed a little, and I was lucky enough to be right near the Plaza when it was falling down. The cold really doesn't feel so bad when Christmas songs are spilling out of the stores onto the sidewalks and there are lights everywhere! This being my last Christmas in NYC, for now, I'm definitely going to take advantage of the holiday spirit the city is exuding. That means shopping, Ice Skating, attending holiday parties, etc.

I've started my cheer by taking photographs for my yearly Bonfils Holiday/Christmas Card. Each year I design and send out a personal card for my friends and family. This year, they will include my very handsome pooch, Sailor Sir Charles. I've sent the photos off to be duplicated and cannot wait to receive them so I can begin the arts and crafts part of the card making! Here's a little glimpse into our photo shoot.

These are not the photos that are making the final card. I'll post the final card shortly before Christmas. This year, I'd like to send YOU a card. Leave a comment below by Friday Dec. 11th and I'll pick 3 readers who'll receive a card before Christmas. Here's one I made a few years ago.

Also, the card will be personalized and signed just for you!
